I'm almost at the one month mark of being in Ireland! I wish I could say it's been a breeze, but based off the last post, that's definitely not true. But thankfully things have started to look up! A few days ago I was applying/emailing/calling for just about every apartment I saw on Daft.ie. And let me tell you - I was looking in some dodgy areas, I was that desperate. Thankfully a couple people messaged me back within a day asking me to come for a viewings. Unfortunately, I've been working 40-50 hours at my job so I just didn't have the time since I went in during the middle of the day and didn't get off till around 1 or 2 in the morning. And as much as I love my job, it can be kind of overwhelming.
Speaking of my job... I never actually got into it, in my last post. So I work as a waitress (and runner) at a place called Urban Brewing and it's honestly one of the coolest places I've ever worked at (sorry Buffalo Bluez). I get to work with so many wonderful people - all from around the world. People come from Brazil, France, Argentina, and so many other places and we all get the chance to work in this kick-ass restaurant/bar. It's such an eye-opening and inspiring experience, and I can honestly say I look forward to my shifts every day. Since it's such a popular place, it's constantly busy, which means a lot of hours (not that I'm complaining - money is money).
Anyways, since I was working so much this week I didn't think I'd be able to have a viewing - and while I missed one because of a shift, another person had emailed me saying they could arrange something before I went in. And thankfully it all worked out. I'm so relieved to say I finally found a place to live. I know most of the blogs have said "oh it takes 2-3 weeks to find permanent accommodation" or "just be patient," I was getting pretty discouraged and kept thinking I'd have to move to a different part of Ireland - and quit a job I actually enjoyed. BUT a wonderful person (she'll remain unnamed until I get her permission) - who is now one of my roommates ended up being my saving grace and offering one of the bedrooms in her apartment for the next three months. And while that doesn't seem like a lot, it's actually the time frame I wanted to see if I wanted to stay in Dublin or head west to Killarney where some other family members live. But, who knows what the future holds? I could end up staying here for the next 11 months, and if that's what happens, so be it.
For now - I'm going to enjoy having a roof over my head that I don't have to move out of by the next night.
Until next time!
Cheers,
Catherine
