Hello and welcome back!
It’s been an interesting two weeks – I’ll try to go back to more frequent updates (provided I actually have something to say).
This past week I got to surprise my parents – which rarely ever gets to happen. I never get the chance to surprise them – let alone both of them at the same time.
A couple of days before I left for Ireland, in June, I decided to buy a ticket to Arizona for my cousin’s wedding. I thought about it being a surprise for the whole family, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep it from my brothers, so I decided to let them in on it. Plus, I’d have a way to know what was going on without seeming too suspicious.
The week leading up the trip I was going back and forth between being really excited and mad at myself for making this decision and spending money on a flight and hotel – especially when I’m strapped for cash right now, but after getting to see all my cousins and my family – I can honestly say it was the right decision.
Durkin weddings are always unforgettable – but this one was absolutely incredible. I got to spend some quality time with my siblings – and I can finally announce that I’m going to be an aunt in April! After some very stressful four months, I really needed a chance to let go and have a vacation – so this was well worth it.
When I was on the bus home – after a very long 10 hour flight, 5 hour layover, and 1.5 hour flight again, I was exhausted. And after connecting with the wifi on the bus (I still think that’s so cool to do) I found out that I had an opportunity for a group interview the next day. I jumped right on it and emailed the person back. The group interview was very casual and we all got through to the next stage and … I’m happy to say I got it! Starting Monday, I’ll be working at the Guinness Storehouse! For now, I’ll most likely be doing admin/ticket sales but I’m excited to be working for such a great company – especially with such good beer! And as Guinness says, "Good things come to those who wait."
Until next time!
Cheers,
Catherine
