Entry #11: A Festival to Remember

Updated: Aug 22, 2019

I don't even have an excuse for why it's been over 3 months since my last post, other than I've been busy and uninspired. I used to post something every week - and that worked for the beginning because every week brought a new disaster, or "challenge" as some might call it. Now, I'm lucky if I manage a post once a month. Once again - no real excuse.

The last few months have been truly exceptional. Being home for the holidays back in December was exactly what I needed - I got to see friends and family and just sit back to relax for a week. January and February were quiet at work, but I still enjoyed time around the city - and even got to catch up with old friends.

I was lucky enough to have my parents come over for about two weeks - I got a week off from work and we headed to Killarney to see family. We also got to stay a night in a castle, which was magical and unforgettable. I'll definitely be returning. Killarney was lovely, as always and I'm making plans to visit once again before I leave the country in late April. I also got to eat like a queen for about two weeks, which was everything.

Now, it's halfway through March - St. Patrick's Day itself! Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my readers - I hope you all had a lovely day of celebrating. I wish I could say I got to celebrate at the parade, but we had our own celebration at the Guinness Storehouse. Almost 5 months later and it's still my favorite job I've ever had. Saying goodbye next month is probably going to be the hardest thing I'll have to do. But that's not the focus of this post. Saturday brought us over 10,500 people in the storehouse which was incredible (and broke the record). I was doing walking tours outside for most of it, so I didn't get to see a lot of the people until later on, but it's a party itself. We had stilt-walkers, bands playing, and Irish dancers entertaining guests throughout the building. It was honestly magical. It's been months of planning and orchestrating for everything to turn out perfectly. And of course, it paid off. Today we had about 6,500 - which wasn't too bad. I got to work in the Tastemore room which had all the entertainment and music, so I was never bored.

I hope everyone had a good holiday - I'm enjoying a nice lemon and honey tea before I head off to bed for an early start at work tomorrow.

Until next time!

Cheers,

Catherine
